Lauzon Spring Wildlife
"Lauzon is a favorite for all awakening wildlife!"
Springtime in Canada is always filled with animal activity, no matter which part of this country you’re in. Here in the Canadian Shield, we have all season wildlife, but in the Spring we welcome back our Black Bears. While they come out of their caves, yawning and stretching from the long winter hibernation, they have tendencies of turning into immediate pests. After 5 months of pure sleep, anybody is bound to be starving. Black Bears are notorious for sneaking into open rooms, tearing apart garbage bins, or even breaking into cars if they smell the succulence of any type of food. To keep these adorable little buggers out of your trash cans, homes and dare say it, vehicles; here are a few tips for all you rural dwellers.
Keep secure lids, or even locks on all outdoor trash or recycling bins. Even the smell of yesterday’s food will entice these bears!
These bears tend to be very curious. I would even recommend closing your car door in between grocery bag trips to the kitchen. The last thing you’d like to see after a day of errands is a big black bear in your back seat snacking on your oatmeal. We've had our fair share around Lake Lauzon!
If you keep care of your waste, recycling, etc. You should have no problems with these animals, maybe even enjoy them by a far!
