Fish in the Winter
Catching fish in a blizzard isn’t a sport for everyone.
Understandably so, since it means hunkering down in a frosty cabin, drilling a decent sized hole straight through the ice, and plenty of patience.
In the middle of winter, once the lake has frozen just enough, you see little huts popping up all over the ice. Some people are there for the afternoon, while others could be there for a week. This, believe it or not, is one of the most ideal times to go fishing. If you think about it, all the fish have slowed their lives right down, awaiting the spring thaw. This causes them to be quite hungry, and willing to eat just about anything. Often you hear of stories of people catching a large fish with nothing on the hook! When you’ve mastered the skill of ice fishing, it becomes a wonderfully special time, especially spent with family or friends. To all of you enthusiasts, happy fishing! Here fish!
